Romeo and Juliet Advice Letter

Dear Romeo,

I know you're very excited to have met Juliet and eager to claim her as your own, but you must take time to slow down. I have to agree with Friar Lawrence on your rather immature behavior, swapping one love for another. Yes, you made a good point with the fact that Rosaline didn't love you in return, but you also need to think about the consequences of jumping headfirst into a relationship with Juliet. She is a Capulet, after all. Listen to Friar Lawrence. He is older and wiser that you are, and has good advice. He wishes to keep the peace in Verona, while you strive to be with the one you now love. Maybe you should try to peacefully and respectfully talk to Capulet and see if he may consent to your wish to marry his only daughter. Try to make amends with Tybalt, as well. Let your parents know, and persuade them all that this will keep the peace and stop the hatred.

As Friar Lawrence said, "they stumble that run fast." Take it easy, and consider all factors of rushing into love.

After all, if you don't, you won't just stumble. You'll fall.

Sincerely, Anaïs

  1. Dearest Anais,
I must make haste! My behavior has not been immature, but rather urgent. This is true love, and I don't want it to slip away. I may never find someone as fair as Juliet on the 'morrow. When you find love as true as mine, you'll understand. Capulet is clouded with pride, no hithen such as he would know my love. If thy stumbles, thy pick thyself up.

    Romeo

  3. this is amazing! i loved the way you used a line from the play - it was very creative and helped persuade anyone reading the letter. and i must say i agree with you and @shawn/romeo, you said it was true love with rosaline, why is this time different? just because she didn't love you back the first time doesn't mean your love for her should have lessened if it was true, and if you two really care for each other you shouldn't be scared of losing her... i thought your letter was perfect!
